Michelle Ellis returns as President; Kim Hall chosen to serve as VP

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., Jan. 4, 2011 – The LPGA today announced that LPGA and World Golf Halls of Fame member Karrie Webb and LPGA Tour player Allison Fouch were elected by their peers to the LPGA Board of Directors. Each will serve a three-year term. Additionally, the Player Directors selected Michelle Ellis to return as President for the third consecutive year while tapping Kim Hall for the first time as the group’s Vice President.

“Karrie and Allison bring unique skill sets that will make their contribution to the Board invaluable,” said William F.Susetka, Chairman of the LPGA Board of Directors. “Both players are leaders among their peers and have a passion for growing the LPGA and women's golf. Karrie, a member of the LPGA Hall of Fame, also brings an international perspective which is critical to the evolution of the LPGA.”

Webb served on the Player Advisory Group (PAG) in 2010 and will sit on the LPGA Board of Directors for the first time. She has 36 LPGA Tour career victories and has led the LPGA official money list three times, captured two Rolex Player of the Year titles, won three Vare Trophies and was named the Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year in 1995.

“I believe the next couple of years are pivotal in the direction the LPGA is headed,” Webb said. “I wanted to be a part of that. The LPGA has provided me with so much opportunity over the 15 years of my career. I felt it was the right time to give something back to the Tour.”

Fouch, who served alongside Webb on the PAG in 2010, also actively participated on the Special Committee on LPGA Board Governance in 2009. Fouch, a graduate of Michigan State University, has posted four career top-10 finishes, including an LPGA career-best tie for second at the 2008 Michelob ULTRA Open at Kingsmill.

“I am thrilled to be a member of the LPGA Board of Directors,” Fouch said. “I have been excited about the opportunity to get more involved with the Tour that has provided me with so much. The members of the LPGA Board are an impressive group of people from which our Tour will benefit greatly. I am also honored to be working alongside our Commissioner, Mike Whan, who has proven his dedication to the success of our tour.”

The responsibility for oversight and guidance of the management of the LPGA lies with the LPGA Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is composed of six independent directors, seven LPGA Player Directors, Dana Rader, the national president of the LPGA Teaching and Club Professionals (T&CP), and Mike Whan, Commissioner of the LPGA. Webb and Fouch join Ellis, Hall, Stacy Prammanasudh, Helen Alfredsson and Katie Futcher as LPGA Player Directors.

The LPGA independent board members are: Peter Carfagna, Chairman/CEO Magis, LLC and former chief legal officer IMG; Leslie Greis, founder, CEO and managing member of Perennial Capital Advisors, LLC; Tony Ponturo, CEO of Ponturo Management Group and former top executive at Anheuser-Busch; Bill Susetka, former CMO of the LPGA as well as former president, Clairol U.S. Retail and Clairol International; and Mike Trager, Chairman of The Trager Group and former chairman of Clear Channel Entertainment Television.
