Hana Financial Group - title sponsor of the one and only LPGA Championship in Korea - raised money through various charitable golf programs like "Birdies of Love" and the LPGA HanaBank Championship Auction. Chairman Seung Yoo Kim was in attendance to congratulate players including IK Kim and Hee Young Park for their efforts.
The Birdies of Love program was started at the 2010 Evian Masters when two Hana Bank sponsored players on the LPGA Tour - IK Kim and Hee Young Park - decided to donate USD$100 to Smile Financial Foundation for each birdie made on tour. Since then, all other Hana Bank sponsored players including Mirim Lee of the KLPGA joined in the effort.
In addition to the Hana Bank sponsored players, some of the world's top players on the LPGA Tour have also joined the effort. That impressive list includes Jiyai Shin, Na Yeon Choi, Cristie Kerr, Paula Creamer, Michelle Wie, and 2011 Hana Bank Champion Yani Tseng. Since its inception, a total of 111 Hana Bank employees have also joined to help the cause.
