Kraft Nabisco Championship Revises Player Eligibility

RANCHO MIRAGE, CALIF. (March11, 2011) – The Kraft Nabisco Championship has announced a change to its 2011 criteria for player eligibility.

According to Gabe Codding, tournament director for the Kraft Nabisco Championship, the tournament has amended the Kia Classic qualifying criteria so that the top 10 LPGA players (and ties) not otherwise qualified for the Kraft Nabisco will be eligible for the upcoming tournament. The previous criteria stated that the top 10 finishers overall at the Kia Classic would gain entry.

“The change in eligibility basically guarantees that another 10 players – in addition to those who tie – will have the chance to play in the Kraft Nabisco Championship,” Codding said.

“Because the LPGA’s domestic tour kicks off only a couple of weeks before our tournament, we think this change offers LPGA members one more opportunity to play their way into the first major of the year. We have a lot of outstanding golfers on tour and this opens the door for more players to compete for the Kraft Nabisco title.”

The Kia Classic will be held March 21-28, the week prior to the Kraft Nabisco Championship at the Pacific Palms Hotel and Conference Center in the City of Industry, Calif. The golf action then moves to the desert for the first LPGA major of the year – the Kraft Nabisco Championship. Kraft Nabisco will be celebrating its 40th anniversary March 28-April 3 at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, Calif. For ticket information, call 760/324-4546 or go to www.KNCGolf.com.
