U.S. Solheim Cup Captain Rosie Jones was joined by Assistant Captain Juli Inkster, U.S. Team veterans Morgan Pressel and Kristy McPherson, and hopeful Vicky Hurst on Monday at Colorado Golf Club, home of the 2013 Solheim Cup. The group met with the Denver media, Colorado Golf Club members and sponsors of the event at a morning press conference after the conclusion of the U.S. Women's Open down the road in Colorado Springs.
Inkster, an eight-time member of the U.S. Team, announced that she will play on the team if she qualifies via the points list, a change from her original plan of hanging up her golf spikes in favor of an assistant captain's golf cart at the 2011 Solheim Cup at Killeen Castle in Ireland.
"Rosie and I have talked a lot about it," said the LPGA and World Golf Halls of Fame member. "Two years ago after Solheim Cup in Chicago, I wasn't sure if I'd still be playing now, but I am and I'm playing pretty well. When Rosie called me and asked me to be an assistant, I said sure because I thought I was done with the golf part of it, but here I am playing pretty good and I want Rosie to have the best team out there. I've tried to wrap my head around this. But I know that if I make the team on points, I will play."
Colorado Golf Club, located in Parker, Colo., most recently played host to the 2010 Senior PGA Championship won by Tom Lehman.
