Walmart NW Arkansas Championship to Benefit NWA Food Bank, Hunger Relief in Region

ROGERS, Ark. – The primary charitable focus of this year’s Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G will be hunger relief in the region, including a $500,000 contribution of cash and food to the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank, tournament officials have announced.

The gift to the Food Bank will represent cash and food contributions from the tournament and seven other tournament sponsors.

“Hunger relief is a significant need in Northwest Arkansas and is also a key charitable priority for a number of our sponsors,” said Tournament Director David Shoemaker.

According to Marge Wolf, President and CEO of the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank, a gift of this size has the potential to help feed 40,000 families in need in the region while also representing one of the largest single contributions her organization has ever received.

This contribution adds to the tournament’s history of charitable outreach in Northwest Arkansas. Last year more than $235,000 in charitable donations was given to local and regional charities through cash contributions and the charity ticket program. Benefiting charities included: the First Tee of Northwest Arkansas, Pagnozzi Charities, Northwest Arkansas Women’s Shelter, Junior Auxiliary of Rogers-Bentonville, Youth Bridge, Boys and Girls Club of Benton County and the Fayetteville Boys and Girls Club.

Tickets to the tournament can be purchased online at www.www.nwachampionship.com
