EVIAN-les-Bains, France (July, 24, 2012) - Hana Financial Group Inc.(HFG), one of the largest commercial banking groups in South Korea, announced a 3 year sponsorship extension of the LPGA KEBHanaBank Championship, which is the one and only LPGA Tour event in Korea.
Jung-Tai Kim, Hana Financial Group (HFG) Chairman, Mike Whan, LPGA Commissioner, Robbie Henchman, Global Co-managing Director of IMG Golf, and Dong-Sub Kim, President of J Golf were in attendance at the signing ceremony to celebrate their partnership. HFG sponsored golfers Cristie Kerr, Hee Young Park, I.K. Kim and Mirim Lee were also in attendance.
HFG Chairman Jung-Tai Kim said "I will put in my best efforts to make the LPGA KEB HanaBank Championship a global event."
"I am very proud that the LPGA can maintain its partnership with KEB and HFG. I am sure the tournament will be the best LPGA event in Asia" said Mike Whan.
The new official tournament name, 'The LPGA KEB·HanaBank Championship', was also announced as part of the ceremony. The previous event title was known as 'The LPGA HanaBank Championship', but HFG and KEB completed a merger earlier this year, and KEB has happily agreed to also be part of this golfing tradition beginning this year. Accordingly, HFG-sponsored players will alternate wearing HFG and KEB logos in upcoming tournaments.
The signing ceremony was followed by a 'Golf Forum with Global Golf Leaders'. Future development of women's golf along with the 2016 Summer Olympic were mainly discussed throughout the forum Q&A session.
The LPGA KEBHanaBank Championship will be celebrating its 11th year since the first event was held in 2002, initially called the 'CJ Nine Bridges Classic'. HFG has sponsored the tournament since 2006.
