It’s the Final Countdown: Four Days until Ten Cards- Where the Winners Are

The 2012 Symetra Tour season marks the first time in history the Road to the LPGA will award the top-10 players in the Volvik Race for the Card 10 cards with equal, exempt status on the LPGA Tour for the 2013 season. With four days left until the lives of those 10 players are changed forever, symetratour.com will highlight an aspect of the season-long competition as the Race enters the last leg.

Let’s take a look at where the tournament winners from this season currently stand in the Race. Seven players in the top-10 have at least one victory in 2012, while the other seven winners sit on the outside looking in with one last shot this week to breakthrough.

This season proves to be one of the deepest talent pools on Tour in terms of the number of players able to break into the winner’s circle. Since the Tour started awarding LPGA Tour cards in 1999, there have been at least three multiple-event winners who finished in the top-10. Even if one of the current victors were to win this week in Daytona Beach, it will be the first time to have only two two-time winners. Three players in last year’s Card class recorded multiple victories as Kathleen Ekey, Lisa Ferrero and Sydnee Michaels each tallied two wins a year ago.

2013 LPGA Tour Cards will be awarded at the conclusion of the Daytona Beach Invitational on September 30th. See what players will earn their cards and who will be competing on the LPGA next year. The entire Volvik Race for the Card ceremony will air on Monday, October 1st at 2pm ET on www.ustream.tv/lpga
