Yani Tseng of Taiwan hit down the 14th fairway during day four of the ISPS Handa Australian Open at Royal Canberra Golf Club.

Rolex Rankings No. 1 Yani Tseng crossed the $9 million mark in career earnings on Sunday, but it wasn’t quite enough to etch her name into the records books again. The 24-year-old came one event shy of tying Lorena Ochoa’s record for fastest player to reach $9 million in career earnings on Sunday with a runner-up finish at the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open.

Ochoa needed 119 career events to cross the mark, achieving the feat 4 years, 6 months and 17 days after her first LPGA paycheck. Ochoa crossed the $9, $10 and $11 million marks in career earnings with five victories in the span of 10 events across 2007 and 2008. She set the LPGA record for most money earned in a single season in 2007 with nearly $4.4 million.

Tseng needed 120 career events and took 5 years, 1 day to top $9 million. Tseng banked $109,523 with her second-place finish at the season-opening event and is currently ninth on the LPGA Career Money List with $9,080,765. She holds the records for fastest player to reach $2, $3, $4, $5, $6, $7, and $8 million in career earnings.

Ochoa stepped away from the game in third place on the money list with more than $14.8 million in career earnings.
