BOSTON, MASS., April 22, 2013 - The Legends Tour returns to action this weekend at the inaugural Walgreens Charity Championship on Nancy Lopez's Legacy Course at The Villages in Central Florida.

This week's 36-hole event will be contested April 27-28, on the Erin Glenn and Ashley Meadows nine-hole layouts -- named for the daughters of the Hall of Famer. The field includes 44 former LPGA Tour stars who are now active on the LPGA's official senior tour. Winner of the event will take home $30,000 from a purse that totals $225,000.

"The LPGA Legends are thrilled to be playing Nancy's course for this inaugural event at The Villages," says Jane Blalock, Legends Tour CEO and 27-time LPGA Tour champion. "Nancy has been such an incredible ambassador for this Tour and she is much-loved by the fans on her home course. It's going to be an outstanding weekend."

Six players in the field are in the LPGA and/or World Golf Halls of Fame. They are: Lopez, Pat Bradley, Donna Caponi, JoAnne Carner, Betsy King and Hollis Stacy. Other notables include five-time Legends Tour champion Rosie Jones, Legends Tour "rookie" Danielle Ammaccapane and the Legends' career money leader, Jan Stephenson.

"Nancy's course is fun," added Stephenson, an Australian native who won 16 times on the LPGA Tour. "She has always focused on the par 5s and I particularly like her use of risk-reward in this design."

The par-72 course will set up to play a length of approximately 6,100 yards, typical for most Legends Tour events. Water comes into play on many of the holes on the front nine and bunkers are prevalent throughout the rolling terrain.

Practice rounds are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, followed by Friday's pro-am. Competition will start Saturday at 8 a.m.

Tickets are on sale now for half price at local Walgreens stores in The Villages and surrounding areas. Villages residents may obtain a two-day tournament pass for $10; non-residents, $15. Gates open at 7 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, April 27-28.

Tickets purchased at the gate on the days of the tournament are $10 per day for residents and $15 per day for non-residents. Children 17 and under and all military personnel with ID are admitted free. Public parking is located at the Mulberry Grove Plaza approximately five minutes from the course. It is free and includes complimentary shuttle direct to the admissions gate.
