2012 Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year So Yeon Ryu was recently announced as an honorary ambassador of the LPGA KEB•HanaBank Championship. At a ceremony last month, Ryu presented one of her wedges to President Jong-Jun Kim of Hana Bank at the Hana Bank headquarters in Seoul, South Korea. It was one of her wedges she used last season when she won her second-career LPGA victory at the Jamie Farr Toledo Classic Presented by Kroger, Owings Corning and O-1 en route to Rookie of the Year honors. The club will be included in an exhibit in a memorial hall at SKY72 Golf Club during the Tour’s stop in Korea in October.

“As an LPGA player, I feel very happy because I became a Golf Team member of Hana Financial Group who holds the LPGA tournament,” said Ryu. “But today, I feel happy and proud that I became honorary ambassador of LPGA KEB•HanaBank Championship."

The 2011 U.S. Women’s Open champion entered the final round of last year’s KEB•HanaBank Championship in second place and five shots behind eventual winner Suzann Pettersen. She would shoot a 73 on Sunday to finish in a tie for seventh.

“I have good and bad memories at LPGA KEB•HanaBank Championship last year,” said Ryu. “I didn’t have the finish I would have liked but the support from the Korean fans was amazing. I will try my best to give you all good memories as an honorary ambassador this year.”

After the presentation at the financial headquarters, Ryu hosted a junior clinic with members from the YMCA of Seoul.
