August 15 to be Military Day Presented by Colorado Tourism Office at 2013 Solheim Cup

PARKER, Colo., June 3, 2013 – In an effort to reward the branches of the military for their dedication and service, the 2013 Solheim Cup and the Colorado Tourism Office will host Military Day presented by the Colorado Tourism Office on Thursday, Aug. 15. Active-duty and retired servicemen and women will gain free admission to Colorado Golf Club on Military Day, as well as discounted ticket prices for the event’s three competition days, Aug. 16-18.

Members of the U.S. Armed Forces can go to this page and order e-tickets for Military Day, and they will gain free admission to the event by bringing their e-ticket and government-issued military identification to the Colorado Golf Club entrance gate. They will receive free admission for themselves and one guest and may also buy additional tickets at a 15-percent discount (limit two tickets per day for each option), and all children 17 and under get in free with a ticketed adult.

“Colorado has a large and dedicated military presence, and this is our way of paying tribute to the men and women who have sacrificed for our country,” Solheim Cup Tournament Director Becky Newell said. “We encourage all men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces to come to Colorado Golf Club with their families and friends and enjoy a great atmosphere and excitement while wearing their red, white and blue. It’s going to be a great day, and we can’t wait to team with the Colorado Tourism Office to provide an entertaining escape for these brave patriots.”

The promotion is the Solheim Cup and Colorado Tourism Office’s way of saying thank you to the men and women who make sacrifices to protect the country and an avenue for the event to give back to the area’s considerable military population.

“There is perhaps no greater honor for Colorado than to host the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces at the Solheim Cup on Military Day. It is a small way to acknowledge their sacrifices and thank them for their service to our great country,” said Al White, Director of the Colorado Tourism Office.
