Boston, MA, October 7, 2009 - The Legends Tour, the Official Legends Tour of the LPGA, announces a new tournament, the Kinoshita Pearl Classic, to be played October 22 - 25, 2009 at Kapolei Golf Course on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. The 36-hole, stoke play event features a $350,000 purse. The tournament will be contested on October 24 - 25, practice rounds will be played October 22 and a pro-am will be held on October 23.This event will be the second new event added to The Legends Tour schedule in the past three months.
The Kinoshita Pearl Classic will feature 35 Legends of the LPGA including Hall of Famers Betsy King and Pat Bradley and LPGA star Jan Stephenson as well as former University of Hawaii golfer Cindy Rarick, who won the first Hawaiian Ladies Open.
"I'm very excited about coming over to play, especially in a Legends event," said Rarick. "The atmosphere in the Legends tournaments is fun, exciting and social. Galleries love to see players that they are familiar with…and Kapolei will be a great venue for the event."
Executive Organizer, Matsujiro Kawana, who organized the Hawaiian Ladies Open from 1987 to 2001, was instrumental in helping the LPGA gain a following in Japan, playing key roles initiating the Mizuno Classic in Japan, the JAL Classic in New York and the Konica Classic in San Jose.
