Early commitments lead to great fields at season-opening events

With less than a month until the 2010 LPGA season officially tees off in Thailand, interest continues to build in the Tour's season-opening Asia swing. 2009 Rolex Player of the Year Lorena Ochoa and Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year Jiyai Shin headline the list of players expected to play in both events. Ochoa returns as the defending champion to Thailand and was the inaugural winner of the HSBC Women's Champions in 2008. Shin won the Singapore-based event last season for her first victory as a Tour member.

The duo is expected to be joined by a host of stars including Michelle Wie, who will be taking a break from her studies at Stanford, and Paula Creamer, who will look to put the 2009 season and her health problems in the rearview mirror with a victory overseas.

Commitments to the Honda PTT LPGA Thailand become official on Tuesday, Feb. 2. For the HSBC Women's Champions, commitments are official on Tuesday, Feb. 9.
