Kraft Nabisco Championship opens preferred registration for volunteers

2011 Volunteer Program to Feature Reduced Fees

RANCHO MIRAGE, CALIF. (Dec. 20, 2010) - The Kraft Nabisco Championship has announced that preferred registration for returning volunteers is now open. Tournament volunteers who wish to return for the 40th anniversary of the Kraft Nabisco Championship can now register online at www.KNCGolf.com. Returning volunteers will have until Dec. 31 to re-register as a volunteer for the 2011 event. Registration for new volunteers will open on Jan. 1.
The Kraft Nabisco Championship, the first LPGA "major" of the year, is seeking volunteers to work on a variety of committees for the tournament, set for Monday, March 28, through Sunday, April 3, at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, Calif.

According to Gabe Codding, tournament director for the Kraft Nabisco Championship, volunteers are needed for the following committees: Player Transportation; Parking, Admissions and Security; Tournament Transportation; Scoring; Scoring Control; Exhibitor Area; Merchandise; Operations; and Marshals. The Kraft Nabisco Championship is supported each year by more than 900 volunteers.

The tournament also announced a reduction in the volunteer fee for this year. The cost for an official Kraft Nabisco shirt, jacket, cap and pin is $50, down from $75 over the last few years. Volunteers will also receive a weeklong credential for tournament admission plus a second weeklong guest credential, in addition to meals and snacks. The volunteer package has a retail value of more than $350.

"Since our early beginnings in 1972, volunteers have played an integral role in the smooth operation of this tournament," Codding said. "Their participation is absolutely key to running a professional golf tournament on the scale of the Kraft Nabisco Championship. We also know that the economy has taken a bite out of many people's discretionary income and have reduced the cost to volunteer by one-third over last year.

"We look forward to seeing our longtime volunteers next spring and to sharing the Kraft Nabisco experience with many new volunteers as well," Codding added.
