Hee Kyung Seo, winner of inaugural Kia Classic Presented by J Golf, awarded complimentary five-year membership to La Costa Resort and Spa
Seo easily handled difficult La Costa tournament course to shoot 12-under-par and win by six strokes
CARLSBAD, Calif., March 31, 2010 – Hee Kyung Seo said during Sunday’s trophy ceremony celebrating her victory in the inaugural Kia Classic Presented by J Golf that she’d like to come back to La Costa Resort and Spa to “relax.” Thanks to a complimentary membership, she’ll be able to do so whenever she’d like.
Seo was awarded a complimentary five-year full signature golf membership to La Costa during the LPGA Mirassou Sun Room Session at the Kraft Nabisco Championship Wednesday.
“We couldn’t think of a better way to honor Ms. Seo than to offer her this membership,” said April Shute, General Manager of La Costa Resort and Spa. “Her play during the tournament was outstanding, and she proved to be an extremely gracious champion. We’re looking forward to seeing her here often, and we’re excited to continue our wonderful new relationship with the LPGA and the Kia Classic Presented by J Golf.”
Seo’s membership gives her full club privileges, which includes unlimited family golf and driving range/practice area use, full athletic club access with select complimentary classes, unlimited tennis use with no court fees, access to seven resort-style swimming pools, social dining and monthly member events and activities.
Seo, 23, won last week’s Kia Classic by shooting 12-under-par 70-69-67-70----276, beating Inbee Park by six strokes. A sponsor exemption who had won 11 times on the KLPGA Tour, Seo had played in five previous LPGA events but never finished higher than 15th. Sunday, she took home a $255,000 winner’s check from the $1.7 million purse.
The Kia Classic Presented by J Golf was played March 22-28 at La Costa Resort and Spa, featuring a 144-player field playing the LPGA’s first event on U.S. soil in 2010. It was also the first LPGA tournament at La Costa and the first full-field LPGA event in San Diego County since 1993. It marked the return of pro golf to La Costa after a four-year absence.
