LPGA Teaching and Club Professional and former LPGA tour player Debbi Koyama captured the T&CP Western Section Championship, the 2010 BAC Berberian European Motors Championship Presented by Tom Cole of Bank of America Home Loans, at the Brookside Country Club in Stockton, California. Koyama shot rounds of 71-73 as she cruised to an eight shot victory over Dana Dormann. She pocketed the first place check of $2,200 and won a coveted exemption into the 2010 LPGA Championship Presented by Wegmans. Koyama, who played the LPGA tour from 1995-2000, was also a two-time All-PAC-10 and All-American Selection at UCLA. Koyama is currently the assistant teaching professional at Desert Hills Golf Resort in Palm Desert, California.
Tournament host and Brookside Country Club Head Golf Professional Piper Wagner battled back after a disappointing first round to finish fifth with scores of 82-74. The Senior Division was won by Malia Folquet, a teaching professional at Palm Valley Country Club. Folquet posted rounds of 71-76 to win $2,000.
The total purse for this year's event was $15,000, a $5,000 increase from last year. With the additional sponsorship support and successful pro-am and junior clinic, the tournament was able to raise over $3,000 for charity to benefit the First Tee of San Joaquin and LPGA-USGA Girls Golf.
