LPGA Tour returns to Hamilton Farm Golf Club for 2010 Sybase Match Play Championship
Gladstone, N.J. - Hamilton Farm Golf Club in Gladstone, N.J., will host the 2010 Sybase® Match Play Championship, an LPGA Tour event, from Thursday, May 20 through Sunday, May 23. The tournament is the first LPGA Tour event at Hamilton Farm since the club served as the site of the 2005 and 2006 HSBC Women's World Match Play Championship.
Exclusively for the 2010 Sybase Match Play Championship, Hamilton Farm will "flip the 9s" as the course's front nine holes will become the back nine holes and the back nine holes will become the front nine holes. For the pure golf enthusiast, the Highlands golf course has both a Parkland and Scottish links feel, with rolling terrain and undulating greens. Bent grass is featured on greens, tees and fairways, with bluegrass rough and a fine fescue secondary rough.
"Hamilton Farm has always been a strong supporter of women's golf and we are honored to be working with Octagon Golf and Sybase to host this unique match play tournament," says Timothy M. Bakels, Hamilton Farm Golf Club General Manager and COO. "There is a buzz in Somerset County, as the community is excited to have the world's best female golfers competing right here in their backyard."
A private golf club located on an elegant historic estate less than an hour from New York City, Hamilton Farm has been recognized twice as a Platinum Club of America by the Club Leaders Forum. The Club's facilities include 36 holes of golf designed by renowned course architects Dr. Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry. Hamilton Farm is home to the nation's only USGA rated 18-hole par-3 course that Ron Whitten, Architecture Editor of Golf Digest, calls "one of the best par-3 courses in America."
Renowned for its picturesque setting, and pristine yet challenging courses, Hamilton Farm Golf Club is now developing on the north end of the property 18 cottages that wind around three holes of the par-3 Hickory golf course. Residents in this exclusive gated community enjoy a luxurious lifestyle with scenic golf course views. Cottage lots are available to members of the Club, 55 and older, to purchase.
Hamilton Farm Golf Club also features well-respected leadership and staff. Hamilton Farm's Director of Instruction, Mike Adams, was recognized by Golf Digest in 2008 as one of the top 50 instructors in the world and has been a private instructor to more than 100 PGA, LPGA and Champions Tour players. For more than 10 years he has hosted a weekly television program for CNNSI and CNN Airport Network, and appears regularly on the Golf Channel.
