ROGERS, Ark. - Twelve participants from The First Tee have been selected to play alongside LPGA professionals in The First Tee MARS Challenge, which will take place Friday, September 10 and Saturday, September 11, during the first and second rounds of The P&G NW Arkansas Championship presented by Walmart.
The First Tee, a youth development organization which teaches young people life skills and core values through the game of golf, has selected participants from 12 of its Chapters, including local Northwest Arkansas, Central Arkansas and Ft. Smith locations, to participate in this inaugural event. Each of the 12 participating Chapters will receive a $5,000 donation from Walmart.
"We are extremely proud to have these young people participate in what will be a memorable event for them," said Joe Louis Barrow, Jr. CEO of The First Tee. "The participants selected have demonstrated their understanding of The First Tee Nine Core Values and life skills learned at their Chapter both on and off the golf course."
The First Tee participants will be paired with LPGA Tour professionals during the first and second championship rounds of the P&G NW Arkansas Championship. The male and female participant with the lowest score of the best ball, two-day team competition will win The First Tee MARS Challenge Trophy.
The First Tee selected participants based on age, USGA handicap and knowledge of The First Tee Nine Core Values and life skills taught throughout the Chapter network.
