LPGA Commissioner and Legends Tour Salute JoAnne Carner

LPGA Commissioner Mike Whan made a special presentation last week to JoAnne Carner, a member of the LPGA and World Golf Halls of Fame. Carner was presented with the Inspiring Women's Award prior to the ISPS Legends Tour Open Championship at Innisbrook Golf and Spa in Palm Harbor, Fla.

The annual award is given to a woman who embodies the spirit of inspiration and for making a difference to the lives of women. Sheila Johnson, owner of Innisbrook, a Salamander Golf & Spa Resort, was the 2009 recipient.

Carner won 43 LPGA tournaments with two wins at the U.S. Women's Open Championship. She was a three-time Player of the Year on the LPGA Tour, a five-time Vare Trophy winner and was the LPGA's top rookie in 1970.

At age 71, Carner was the oldest contestant in last week's Legends Tour tournament.
