It did not take Gloria long to make a name for herself on Tour as she finished fifth in the LPGA Championship in 1965, her rookie year. She won that prestigious title the following year and was subsequently named Most Improved Player on tour. A few lean years followed but she broke through with victory again in 1973, capturing the Birmingham Classic, and has been a consistent finisher ever since. She had her most lucrative season in 1978, winning more than $42,000 and finishing 22nd on the money list.
Gloria was the winner of the Tri-State Amateur Championship in both 1963 and '64, and in the latter year won both the International Four-Ball title and the Connecticut State Amateur championship.
