Pam Gietzen Bio

5’7”…A 1980 graduate of Brigham Young University…Lists Brigham Young coach Gary Howard and Knollwood CC professional Sherm Finger as most influencing her career…Maiden name is Miller…Married Houston, Texas, television sportscaster Bruce Gietzen in 1981...Daughter, Jennifer Marrie 8-15-86...Was matron of honor of Terri (Moody) Luckhurst at her November, 1982 wedding.

Gietzen opted to sit out the 1986 season and await the birth (in August) of her first child, daughter Jennifer Marie. Her best season remains 1982, when she record three top-10 finishes and took home $36,087. That same year Gietzen, a rookie, took fourth place at the Bent Tree Ladies Classic, only her 12th LPGA Tour event. She continued to demonstrate poise and concentration, finishing tied for third at the 1982 LPGA Championship. The following three years proved to be a low period for the Illinois native, as she underwent wrist surgery in 1983 and never quite returned to the form that proved successful in 1982.

Gietzen captured the 1978 and 1979 Illinois State Amateur and was runner-up at the 1980 U.S. Publinx Championship. As a senior at Brigham Young in 1980, Gietzen earned All-America honors.
