Before the 35th Anniversary LPGA State Farm Classic got underway, Commissioner Mike Whan, Haeji Kang and Gloria Park of South Korea, and Amy Hung of Taiwan met with the Midwest Affiliate of St. Jude Children's Hospital in Peoria, Ill.
LPGA players, Candie Kung and Amy Hung, returned to their old elementary schools in Kaohsiung, Taiwan and gave away soft golf kits as presents in the hopes that local students will be able to know more about the sport. Teachers and students were all very excited to witness the professional players' live demonstration of the sport.
Over a period of 5 days from October 12 to October 16, 2009, a new page in the history of Taiwanese golf development will be written when 10 teams of 49 leading Special Olympics athletes from all over the world meet in Taipei to compete together at the Pei Tou Kuo Hua Golf and Country Club.
Amy Hung, Candie Kung, Teresa Lu, and Yani Tseng, four Taiwanese LPGA players, were honored by the Taiwanese government's San Francisco office on Thursday, September 24th. The players are in town for the CVS/pharmacy LPGA Challenge.
