APPLICANT PROGRAM 

The Applicant program is for those who meet ALL the Application and Eligibility requirements to become an LPGA member at the time they are ready to start the Teacher Education Program (TEP). The LPGA offers a blended learning certification program with theory-based learning as well as application learning through experiential course assignments and in-person learning. Each course is facilitated by an LPGA Global Education Team instructor who leads live training sessions and is available for individual meetings during online courses.

If you are not able to submit ALL the Application and Eligibility requirements at the time you want to start the TEP, you may still start the onlines courses as an Associate. For more information on the Associate Program, please click on the Associate tab at the top of this page.

Application and Eligibility 

The Applicant program is for those who meet the membership requirements to become an LPGA member. Learn more about membership requirements, how to apply and start classes below:

• Be a female and at least 18 years of age, AND
  • Click here for the LPGA Gender Policy
• Proof of a high school diploma or its equivalent, at minimum (copy or photo of your transcripts or diploma), AND
• Be currently employed in the golf profession (Click Here for what defines Employment in the Golf Industry) for at least three months with an average of 20 hours per week at the time of submission of the application.

• Meet the Playing Ability Test (PAT) Requirements by submitting a PAT Equivalency. Please refer to the PAT section further down this page for exemption and equivalency information.
• Two (2) letters of recommendation. These people can be a coach, employer, friend, or associate. These do not need to come from members of the LPGA/PGA to be accepted. 
• If you meet the above requirements, please fill out the Member Interest Form located at the bottom of this page. You will receive a response within two (2) business days. 
• Pay the Application Fee of $450. Payment of this fee does not grant membership status or privileges of the  LPGA Professionals until after you have completed Level I of the Teacher Education Program (TEP) and all the application requirements*.

If you are not able to submit ALL the Application and Eligibility requirements at the time you want to start the TEP, you may still start the onlines courses as an Associate. You do not have to submit all the Application and Eligibility requirements before starting the TEP - you may still start the courses as an Associate.

*You will forfeit your Amateur Status once you are invited to join the LPGA Professionals membership and you accept this invitation. You are considered an LPGA Professionals Apprentice member after the completion of Level I of the Teacher Education Program, all Application requirements have been met and Member dues have been paid. For information on the rules regarding what constitutes Amateur Status and when you are considered a non-amateur, please click here: Amateur Status (usga.org).

Cost

The LPGA offers programs in 4 languages (English, Korean, Japanese, Mandarin). Click the links below to see the list of courses for each program. Costs vary between programs, are subject to change, and do not include travel costs for in-person courses.

Programs must be completed in the order listed on these charts and all requirements must be completed to attain full Class A membership with the LPGA Professionals.

All prices are subject to change and do not include travel costs. Apprentice and Class B Members are responsible for annual dues of $575.00.

Financial Aid 

Looking for Financial Assistance to become an LPGA Professionals member? Education grants are only available to Approved Applicants who have submitted all the application requirements and paid the application fee. Associates are not eligible to apply for financial assistance.

If you haven't already, the first step before applying for financial assistance is to start the application process for the Applicant program by filling in the LPGA Professionals Member Interest Form at the bottom of this page.

The LPGA has the following grants available:

1. The Marge Burns Grant

• The Marge Burns Grant is open to all LPGA Applicants and Members who demonstrate a financial need to further their golf education.

2. The Renee Powell Education Fund

• Established in 2022, the Renee Powell Education Grant provides financial aid to female, African American, LPGA Applicants and Members going through the LPGA certification process.

**NOTE: Grants must be used within the year it is awarded. Exception, grants awarded in the 3rd selection may be used the following year.
**NOTE: LPGA Members and Applicants may apply more than one (1) time for the grant, however, Applicants may only apply once as an Applicant. If they wish to apply again, they must complete the Level I Online Course, the Application Requirements and join as an LPGA Professionals Apprentice Member.

Playing Ability Test

All those seeking membership with the LPGA Professionals must pass a Playing Ability Test (PAT) or submit a PAT Equivalency in order to be invited for LPGA Professionals Membership. If you are applying as an Applicant, you must submit a PAT Equivalency (see below for exemptions and information) at the time you start the application and before paying the Application Fee.

You DO NOT need to pass the PAT prior to starting the Teacher Education Program (TEP) courses. If you are not able to submit a PAT Equivalency when you start the Application, you may start the program as an Associate and should select the Associate option on the Member Interest Form. It does need to be completed before you can apply for LPGA Professionals Membership and we can help facilitate a PAT for you.
