OVERVIEW

TEP2

For over 50 years, the LPGA has developed and enhanced golf education for teachers, coaches, and leaders of the game of golf. As a result, the LPGA Teacher Education Program (TEP) has become the industry's most comprehensive and dynamic golf education series.

The TEP utilizes research-based theory to identify the core competencies required to be an effective teacher, coach, and leader by incorporating interactive practical applications into the program content. This series is designed to help golf professionals meet the demands of today's market.

The Teaching Certification entails completing three (3) levels of in-person and at-home self-study requirements that are taught through four (4) individual courses.

The Level I program provides basic knowledge in golf skill learning and the biomechanics and kinetics of the golf swing. Participants are also introduced to the Integrated Performance System (IPS) that is the basis of the LPGA teaching model. Students will enjoy a combination of online lessons, live calls with LPGA trained instructors and a two (2) day virtual seminar to enhance learning. LPGA history, policies, standards of professionalism, and personal development are presented as part of the Level I online course.

Levels II and III of the Teaching Certification build on what was taught in Level I,  providing a more detailed understanding of the LPGA Integrated Performance System (IPS) and the LPGA lesson model components. Professionals acquire the skills needed to create dynamic golf education programs through employment in an existing golf school or pro shop or establishing an independent business. Students will learn a myriad of skills, beginning with understanding the concepts of motor learning and golf biomechanics, that help them deliver personalized, results-oriented instruction that fits the changing needs of their students/clients. These topics include swing analysis, psychology, club fitting, golf fitness, conditions for effective practice, and more. At the end of the Level III online course, students attend an in-person Practical Teaching Evaluation (PTE) to demonstrate everything they have learned. Students will give two 30-minute lessons, one full swing and one short game, in a live test environment that are evaluated and graded by members of the LPGA Global Education Team.

At the end of Level I, students who have completed all the application requirements will be invited for LPGA Professionals Apprentice membership. Apprentice members are allowed to use the LPGA Professionals logo and have access to the many benefits LPGA Professionals enjoy. Students are invited for Class B membership when they successfully complete the Level II courses, and Class A membership at the successful completion of the Level III Online Course and In-Person PTE.

LPGA Education Programs are open to all LPGA applicants, LPGA members, and non-members.
