Brooke Henderson
Although her streak of consecutive top-10’s came to an end last week with a T-19 finish at the Volunteers of America Texas Shootout, Brooke Henderson continues to be one to watch on Tour. She is the second highest ranked player in the field this week at No.5 in the world and is currently ranked fourth in scoring average on Tour at 69.93. She’ll have fond memories to fall back on this week after finishing T-13 in this event last year.
M.J. Hur
The 2014 winner of the Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic, M.J. Hur has been playing some of her best golf in more than a year. Hur has continued to trend upward, finishing T-6 at the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic followed by a share of runner-up last week in Texas. The only way up from here is a win for Hur who already knows what it takes to get it done in Prattville.
Gerina Piller
For the past four weeks its looked as though it could finally be Gerina Piller’s time. Still in search of her first win on Tour, Piller looked closest to capturing her first title last week in Texas where she held the 36 and 54-hole leads. But Piller was unable to get it done on Sunday, closing with a final round 2-over par, 73. It was a learning experience for Piller who posted her fourth consecutive top-6 finish on Tour. This week makes her first start in this event since 2012.
Ariya Jutanugarn
Being able to close out a win has kept Ariya Jutanugarn from the winner’s circle in 2016. Despite four top-15 finishes the past four weeks, three of those tournaments included final rounds in the 70’s including two over par. If she can go low on Sunday Jutanugarn will soon be a winner on Tour.
So Yeon Ryu
As the changes she’s made to her game continue to take hold, So Yeon Ryu continues to play better golf. Ryu has finished in the top-10 in two of the last four events. With the schedule change moving this week’s event from the Fall to the Spring, Ryu will tee it up in Alabama for the first time since 2012 when she finished T-8.
Stacy Lewis
It hasn’t been the start to 2016 that Stacy Lewis was looking for after six runner-up finishes in 2015, she has yet to break through for a win since 2014. Lewis has however posted 3-top 10’s this season and will have some fond memories to pull from this week. Lewis not only won this event in 2012 but also finished runner-up in 2014. She also has two more top-6 finishes in Alabama.
Gaby Lopez
Rookie Gaby Lopez is in search of her first win on Tour and is quickly learning what it takes to be successful. Lopez has three top-20’s so far in her rookie season including a T-19 finish last week that included a final round 3-under par, 68 in Texas. She makes her first start in Prattville this week.
Hyo Joo Kim
Already a winner earlier this season in the Bahamas, Hyo Joo Kim has two more top-15 finishes in 2016. She played well in this event last year, carding a final round 4-under par, 68 to post a T-13 finish in her first start in Alabama.
Charley Hull
Hoping to play the weekend in Alabama for the first time, Charley Hull will be in the hunt for her third top-10 finish of 2016. She has put herself in contention this season, finishing T-2 at the season’s first major championship followed by a T-16 last week in Texas.
