American Jennifer Song got off to a slow start with a bogey on the first hole but recovered nicely with four consecutive birdies to posted one of her best scores of the season in the opening round of the Reignwood LPGA Classic.
“I knocked it very close to the pin and a couple it wasn't that close, but I putted well, so I think that that led to a good score today,” said Song. “Yeah. I mean, I think I left a couple putts out there, but 5-under is still a good score.”
Song has been working with coach Robin Symes for the past nine, ten years and has made a few changes over the past few weeks and with an opening round 5-under par, 68 she’s feeling pretty good.
“The last couple weeks I wasn't happy with my ball trajectory, so before coming here I met my coach and worked on my swing and tried to get the normal trajectory that I want, and I think that really helped me out this week,” said Song. “When I had the chances, I made a lot of putts. Helped me out a lot.”
“Yeah, it's not quite mine yet, but I I'm still working on it,” Song on the changes. “I think as long as I keep this feeling going I think I'll have some good scores.”
