Brittany Altomare made the Rolex Rankings Move of the Week with her runner-up finish at the Evian Championship, jumping 62 spots in the rankings from No. 102 to No. 40 - the highest ranking of her career and first week inside the top 50.
Altomare carded a 6-under, 66 to get into a playoff with Anna Nordqvist. While she may have come up short, she walked away with continued confidence in her game.
“It’s really big,” said Altomare of her breakthrough performance. “I had a good week in Portland, and I felt good that tournament and I felt like I could now start getting some good finishes. It’s all just about finishing up your rounds or tournaments, and I feel I’m starting to do that.”
With her second-place finish, Altomare almost doubled her career earnings, with a $339,625 paycheck she moved up to No. 26 on the LPGA official money list. Her only previous career top-10 finish was a tie for third in the Cambia Portland Classic Presented by JTBC a few weeks ago.
This week, Anna Nordqvist returned to the top 4 of the Rolex Rankings for a second time in her career with her win at last week’s Evian Championship. She first reached No. 4 in the world at the beginning of 2010 and held the ranking for four consecutive weeks.
Nordqvist has been ranked inside the top 40 of the world rankings for 432 consecutive weeks dating back to June 2009 of her rookie year on the LPGA Tour.
With her win at the Evian Championship, Anna Nordqvist moved inside the top 12 in the season-long Race to the CME Globe; moving up nine positions to No. 10. Lexi Thompson (1), So Yeon Ryu (2), Sung Hyun Park (3), In Gee Chun (4), Ariya Jutanugarn (5), Moriya Jutanugarn (6), Brooke Henderson (7), Stacy Lewis (8), In-Kyung Kim (9), Cristie Kerr (11), and Sei Young Kim (12) round out the top-12.
The top five finishers entering Naples control their destiny at the CME Group Tour Championship and with a win in Naples they will also win the $1 million CME Globe. Only the top twelve players in the Race to the CME Globe have a mathematical chance at winning the title and the one million dollar prize at the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship.
