“After careful consultation with the rules officials today and out of concern for the safety of our players, caddies and everyone on the golf course with so much rain on this hilly golf course, we decided it was in the best interest not to continue play today and to restart the tournament with scores reset.
Resetting today’s scores was a tough decision to make, but conditions were going to be drastically different on Friday compared to Thursday. In order to maintain competitive equity, we felt the most fair thing to do was to give everyone a clean start tomorrow.
And although the golf course is draining like never before, with the current forecast for the weekend into Monday, we felt that reducing to 54 holes gives us the best shot for a compelling championship because we might need Monday to finish 54 holes.”
