Moriya Jutanugarn, Paula Creamer, Brooke Henderson
Friday – 8:21 a.m. – 1st tee
Moriya Jutanugarn notched her best finish of the year last week at the LPGA Volvik Championship, a tie for 6th. She also has two other top-10s this year and just one missed cut. Although the older Jutanugarn hasn’t found the winner’s circle like sister Ariya, she has certainly been trending in the right direction. Paula Creamer, who is looking for her first LPGA Tour victory since 2014, joins her. Creamer put in a lot of work on her swing in the off-season and has seen flashes of brilliance but has yet to string together four good rounds. She’s certainly seeing signs of positive improvement, though. Rounding out the trio is Canadian Brooke Henderson, who has only missed one cut this year and has two top-10s. With a return to her homeland imminent – the Manulife LPGA Classic is next week – don’t be surprised to see Henderson contend this week.
Charley Hull, Anna Nordqvist, Michelle Wie
Friday – 8:21 a.m. – 10th tee
Anna Nordvist is looking for the rare three-peat on the LPGA Tour as she comes into this week at the Shoprite LPGA Classic presented by ACER as the two-time defending champion. She was 17-under-par in the three-round tournament a year ago, meaning she has the ability – and the confidence – to go low here. Charley Hull, who has four top-15s this year, and who won the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship a year ago, joins Nordqvist along with Michelle Wie. Wie, who has had two top-5 finishes so far this year, sits 31st on the Race to the CME Globe.
Angela Stanford, Haru Nomura, Cristie Kerr
Friday – 8:32 a.m. – 10th tee
Haru Nomura nearly nipped Anna Nordqvist for the Shoprite title a year ago, but was ultimately beaten by one as Nordqvist defended her title. Nomura hasn’t missed a cut this year and already has one victory under her belt in 2016, at the Volunteers of America Texas Shootout presented by JTBC. She’s joined by Cristie Kerr, who not only has a victory already in 2017, but also a runner-up and three more top-10s. Kerr also captured this title in 2004 with a score of 11-under-par. Although Angela Stanford missed the cut last week at the LPGA Volvik, she notched her best finish of the year the week before, a solo third at the Kingsmill Championship presented by JTBC.
Yani Tseng, Brittany Lang, Karrie Webb
Friday – 12:59 p.m. – 10th tee
Karrie Webb captured the ShopRite title in 2013 with an 11-under-par total. She’s won twice more on the LPGA Tour since then, and although she hasn’t had the best of 2017s – she’s had five missed cuts versus four made – you can never count out the veteran, especially on a course she’s had success on before. The defending U.S. Women’s Open champion, Brittany Lang, joins Webb. Lang is also riding a streak of four straight top-20s. Rounding out the trio is Yani Tseng, who, although she has made only one cut this year, made it a memorable one. She finished tied for 14th at the HSBC Women’s Champions.
