Pro-ams will become more interactive and exciting with 18Birdies Tournament+ Scoring
DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA, April 13, 2017 - The Epson Tour, the official qualifying Tour for the LPGA, announced today that mobile golf technology startup, 18Birdies, has partnered with the Tour to provide live scoring of pro-ams at each tournament through the 18Birdies Tournament+ Scoring solution. Epson Tour professionals began using the 18Birdies app at the POC Med Golf Classic.
Pro-am participants in all Epson Tour events from here forward will now be able to view a live leaderboard and interact with each other in real-time within the app. The professionals will update scores immediately following each hole.
“You always hear pro-am participants say ‘I wonder how we are doing so far’ so I think the 18Birdies Tournament+ Scoring solution adds a new competition dimension for those that really want to win,” said Mike Nichols, Chief Business Officer of the Epson Tour. “It’s also great for our pro-am groups that just want to have fun because they can post photos and videos in real time with other groups on the app.”
18Birdies has placed an emphasis on gamifying golf and bringing more millennials to the game. Their mobile app has a wide array of features including Google Maps powered GPS rangefinder, round, score and stat tracking and a side-games bet calculator, which caters to golfers of all skill levels.
“We are very excited to be partnering with the Epson Tour and bringing live scoring to its Pro-Ams,” said Jen Vescio, Advisor to the CEO, at 18Birdies. “Our Tournament+ Scoring platform will add another layer of socialization by letting players follow along and interact with other groups while on the course.”
The next Epson Tour event is the Sara Bay Classic in Sarasota, Florida. Tournament play starts on Friday, April 21 while the pro-am is on Thursday, April 20.
The public can also follow the action live for each Pro-Am event by downloading the free 18Birdies mobile app for iOS or Android and entering each tournament’s gallery code in the tournament section of the app’s “play” tab.
