When your day starts out with meeting Jack Nicklaus, it’s hard to imagine the day getting any better.
But for In-Kyung Kim, Wednesday was a day full of high points.
The 2017 Ricoh Women’s British Open Champion spent Wednesday in New York City where she toured the city and met Nicklaus, her idol, for the first time. Kim also had a chance to snap a photo with the legendary Gary Player as well as one of the newest members of the World Golf Hall of Fame, Lorena Ochoa. They were all in town for Tuesday evening’s induction ceremony and this week’s Presidents Cup.
“There were so many highlights I don’t know where to begin,” Kim told LPGA.com about her day. “We started off meeting Jack, Gary and Lorena, that was really a dream come true.”
The newly minted major champion then hopped on a ferry to Liberty National Golf Club, site of the Presidents Cup. She spent some time watching the International Team during their practice round and caught up with Si Woo Kim. The idea of sitting back and taking on the role of a fan seemed foreign to Kim, who is used to being the one playing inside the ropes.
“I just learned how to be a spectator, so it was really fun,” Kim said. “I think my favorite [part of the day] would be the whole experience. I got to be in New York and just be a golf fan.”
Kim took over the LPGA's social channels where she shared posts throughout the day.
