In this week's bonus podcast, CBS broadcaster Amanda Balionis joins Bret Lasky to discuss her rising broadcasting career that already has her as the interviewer on CBS golf telecasts. She discusses juggling two jobs at Callaway Golf and CBS, working with a legend like Jim Nantz, her female role models in the business like Bonnie Bernstein, her relationship with LPGA star Jessica Korda and even her love of dogs and the Steelers.
Balionis will also be part of CBS' coverage of The Masters right after the ANA Inspiration.
In our "Go for it or Lay Up" segment, we ask Balionis about Tiger's chances of winning in 2018 and if a joint LPGA-PGA event on CBS would be a home run. We also debut a new segment called "Would you Rather" where we give Balionis two golf scenarios and she says what she'd rather do. One involves the U.S. Women's Open and one involves The Masters. Listen (towards the end of the podcast) and ask yourself, what would you rather do?
Balionis started her career working for the New York Jets and New York Islanders for the MSG Network. Then, she worked for the PGA TOUR for five years before moving west for the gig at Callaway Golf. Two years ago, she got a life-changing call to join the Golf on CBS team. She has also worked sidelines for NFL and college games on CBS. She worked week 17 of the 2017 NFL season with Rich Gannon and Kevin Harlan.
