In Gee Chun, Georgia Hall, Pernilla Lindberg
10th Tee, 8:10 a.m. (Thursday), 1st Tee, 1:10 p.m. (Friday)
In Gee Chun, who finished runner-up in Portland a year ago, joins two major winners from 2018.
Chun finished second or tied for second six times last year. She finished tied for 36th last week at the CP Women’s Open as she hunts for her first LPGA Tour victory since The Evian Championship in 2016. She lost in a playoff earlier this year at the Kingsmill Championship.
Hall won the Women’s British Open in July, her first LPGA Tour victory (and first major). She returned to action last week at the CP Women’s Open where she finished tied for 28th. She makes her debut in Portland this week.
Pernilla Lindberg notched her first-ever LPGA Tour victory in similar fashion to Hall – she captured the ANA Inspiration in a playoff over Jennifer Song and Inbee Park. She finished tied for 70th in Portland last year.
Anna Nordqvist, So Yeon Ryu, Emma Talley
10th Tee, 7:59 a.m. (Thursday), 1st Tee, 12:59 p.m. (Friday)
After a week off, So Yeon Ryu is looking to add her to win total for the year. Ryu has five top-10 finishes in 2018 including a victory at the Meijer LPGA Classic. She’s hopeful to extract a little revenge on Columbia Edgewater Country Club, as she missed the cut there a year ago – one of just two times she didn’t see the weekend in 2017.
Anna Nordqvist notched her sixth top-10 of the year last week at the CP Women’s Open. She didn’t play in Portland last year but she was on fire at Wascana Country Club’s back nine a week ago, which has a comparable layout to Columbia Edgewater’s tree-lined course.
Rookie Emma Talley rounds out the group. She missed the cut at the CP Women’s Open but has three top-5 finishes on her season so far.
Shanshan Feng, Lexi Thompson, Inbee Park
1st Tee, 1:21 p.m. (Thursday), 10th Tee, 8:21 a.m. (Friday)
After missing the cut last week in just her second tournament back in action after a month away, Lexi Thompson looks to build on her tie for 21st here a year ago. Thompson has yet to win this year but has five top-10 finishes this season.
Inbee Park dropped to fourth on the Rolex Rankings last week, but after a long break – she hasn’t played since the Women’s British Open – Park is hopeful to return to the form she had at the beginning of the year, where she finished 1-T18-T2-T3-T2 in a five-week stretch.
Feng hasn’t yet won in 2017, but has four top-5 finishes. She finished tied for 13th at the CP Women’s Open and returns to action in Portland after not playing in 2017. All but one of Feng’s last eight LPGA Tour victories have come after August, so she’s just rounding into form before a busy fall stretch.
Brooke Henderson, Lizette Salas, Su Oh
1st Tee, 1:32 p.m. (Thursday), 10th Tee, 8:32 a.m. (Friday)
Brooke Henderson comes to Portland riding the high of her life. The 20-year-old won the CP Women’s Open on home soil last week – becoming the first Canadian to win since 1973 – and she’s playing a golf course she’s had much success on over the last three years. She won in 2015 and 2016 and finished tied for 13th in 2017.
Salas took last week off after losing in a playing the week before at the Indy Women in Tech Championship. It was her second runner-up of the year and fourth top 10.
Oh finished tied for 29th here a year ago and was tied for fourth last week at the CP Women’s Open – matching her best result of the season.
