The dynamic duo of Juli Inkster and Gerina Piller have provided some memorable moments to the golf world. Think about 2015 when Piller calmly rolled in the clinching birdie putt to keep the Solheim Cup within grasp of Team U.S.A. The image of an overjoyed Inkster running onto the green will last forever.
The roles were reversed on Wednesday at the 3M Celebrity Challenge at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am as Inkster was a late entry and Piller served as her caddie, while less than four months from her May 3rd due date.
They made a perfect match as caddie-player alongside actor and team leader Clint Eastwood, who acknowledged that Inkster was the 'secret weapon' in leading the team to victory.
“They asked me to play in this thing and knowing that Clint was playing in this thing, and Bill Murray was playing, I mean how can you turn that down,” Inkster said.
Country music star Clay Walker was impressed with Inkster's game.
“I mean she won two U.S. Women's Opens, she should have won ten, and she can still beat it,” said Walker.
Alfonso Ribiero was the fourth member of Team Eastwood.
So, how did Piller do as a caddie?
"She was amazing, the way she cleaned the golf ball, I had two caddies today," said Inkster, referring to the baby growing inside Piller. "Little AJ and Gerina were on point reading the greens too."
Since Piller is taking the year off the LPGA and therefore doesn't have the same earnings potential, did Inkster compensate her?
"Nope, but lunch is on me today."
They needed a table for three.
