Inbee Park and Se Ri Pak further cemented their superstar status in Korea by taking part in the opening ceremonies of the winter Olympic games in PyeongChang. Park, a gold medalist in 2016 at the summer games in Rio, was one of the final torchbearers who carried the flame into PyeongChang Olympic Stadium. Pak, who inspired a nation with her 1998 win at the U.S. Women’s Open, was one of eight athletes to carry the nation’s flag during the ceremonies. The World Golf Hall of Famer retired from professional golf in 2016, the same year she coached the South Korean women’s golf team at the Rio Olympic games.
Fellow Korean, So Yeon Ryu, was also on-site for opening ceremonies which were entitled “Peace in Motion.”
