With temperatures expected to dip into the mid-60s this weekend at ShopRite LPGA Classic presented by Acer, 2018 tournament champion Annie Park is a fan. Expect to see plenty of Foray Golf sweaters as long as Park is competing in Galloway, N.J., this week.
“I love sweater weather,” said Park, who finished at 16-under par on the Bay Course at Seaview, A Dolce Hotel, two years ago to win to become a Rolex First-Time Winner. “I love it so much. Even if it’s 70, I’m going to wear a sweater. I love fall in New Jersey, so pretty to see all the leaves changing.”
As the defending champion last year, Park missed the cut. Starting tomorrow, she’ll look to rebound and draw on some of her great memories from 2018.
“The thing I remember most [from my win] is the final round, just making a lot of long putts,” said Park. “During my practice rounds yesterday and today, I was like, ‘How did I even read that putt? How did it go in?’ Trying to reenact some of the putts, it was just crazy.
“This course gets pretty tough when wind starts to pick up and it’s very unpredictable when it’s going to do it. I’m going to be as patient as possible. There is going to be weather and it’s going to get colder than previous years. It will be important to adjust and adapt to the conditions.”
Park tees off No. 1 tomorrow at 8:58 a.m. EDT alongside Pornanong Phatlum and Lauren Stephenson.
