Week-long Schedule of Virtual Events Features LPGA Player Interviews, 2019 Dow GLBI Final Round Re-Air, Eat Great Digital Announcement, and Social Media Contests
MIDLAND, Mich. – Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational (Dow GLBI) event officials announce a series of virtual events during the week of July 12-18 for the Great Lakes Bay Region community in lieu of the recently cancelled LPGA tournament. The week will feature interviews with last year’s champions, Cydney Clanton and Jasmine Suwannapura, LPGA Legend Suzann Pettersen, and 2019 teammates Katherine Kirk and Amy Olson. Fans can also relive the excitement of the final round of the 2019 Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational on Facebook Live and Golf Channel during this week’s line up of events.
“We were able to accomplish so much in our first year of the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational,” said Chris Chandler, Executive Director of the Dow GLBI. “We became the first LPGA event to achieve GEO certification for our sustainability efforts, helped generate $12.7 million in economic impact for the region, and hosted 35,000 spectators on-site - we felt it was important to celebrate the support and involvement of the community in a fun way despite having to cancel the 2020 Dow GLBI.”
“We’re excited to introduce new Dow LPGA ambassadors, highlight Suzann Pettersen’s amazing career, and get to know a few LPGA professionals – including our 2019 champions – through a fun week-long virtual engagement,” said Chandler.
To kick off the week of virtual events, Sunday, July 12 Suzann Pettersen takes us through her legendary LPGA career in “Her Final Putt – Suzann Pettersen’s Story” at 2:30pm ET on CBS. Immediately following, fans can engage in a Facebook Live Q&A with Suzann on Sunday at 3pm ET. Golf channel will re-air the CBS documentary as well as the 2019 Dow GLBI Final Round on Monday starting at 11am ET.
Fans are invited to join via Dow GLBI social media platforms on Wednesday, July 15 at 6pm ET to #TeamUp with the Inaugural Dow GLBI Champions, Cydney Clanton and Jasmine Suwannapura, for a Q&A hosted by Golf Channel’s Karen Stupples and special guest Jim Fitterling, Chairman and CEO of Dow. Following the Q&A session, fans are encouraged to tune into Facebook Live to re-watch the 2019 Dow GLBI Final Round featuring special interviews with Cydney and Jasmine at 7pm ET. On Thursday, July 16 at 6pm ET, 2019 teammates Katherine Kirk and Amy Olson will talk community involvement and support in a Q&A hosted by Golf Channel’s Jerry Foltz with special guest, Jim Fitterling.
Event officials in partnership with BeAlive, a digital video entertainment and media company, announce the launch of the Eat Great digital mini-series highlighting local chefs in the Great Lakes Bay Region hosted by TV personality, outdoor enthusiast, and foodie Chris Keefer. The mini-series will kick-off late summer and feature a number of Eat Great restaurants and Chefs. The Eat Great brand will also be releasing an Eat Great Summer Cookbook featuring fun recipes from restaurants around the Great Lakes
