Career
After an injury-filled rookie season, Hocott opened the 1982 campaign on an upbeat note. She made the Elizabeth Arden Classic, the second event of the year, the best tournament of her four-year career. She was one shot off the pace entering final round action and finished in a fifth place deadlock. A tie for 17th at the Chrysler-Plymouth Charity Classic and an 18th place tie at the West Virginia Classic within a three-week span highlighted her 1983 season. Hocott got off to a quick start in 1984 with an opening round 68 at the Mazda Classic of Deer Creek to establish a new low round. But the quick start slowed as her best finish of the year was a tie for 18th at the inaugural MasterCard International Pro-Am. Hocott cuts a hole in her golf glove to accommodate the diamond in her wedding ring.

Amateur
Hocott was a trailblazer at Texas A&M. She was the first woman to attend the school on an athletic scholarship and was the first woman to letter in athletics. She garnered the 1976 and 1979 Southern Championship and represented the United States on the 1978 and 1980 Curtis Cup squads. Hocott also won the 1979 Trans National Championship.
