  • Bio

Sister of Founder Marlene Bauer Hagge, Alice Bauer was born in 1927 in Eureka, South Dakota. She won the 1942 South Dakota Amateur Championship at age 14 and captured the Southern Cal Amateur in 1949. One of the original 13 founders of the LPGA Tour, Bauer turned professional in 1950.

Alice never won on the LPGA Tour and the closest she came to doing so was at the 1955 Heart of America Open when she lost in a playoff to Marilynn Smith. But she still had many top-10 finishes in major championships, most notably finishing fourth in the 1958 U.S. Women’s Open. Her best finish on the LPGA Tour money list was 14th in 1956. Bauer made $26,156 in career earnings and was inducted into the South Dakota Sports Hall of Fame in 2015.
