Shin leading the LPGA Official Money List as season winds down to the LPGA Tour Championship;
Field to be set Sunday, November 8
HOUSTON - As the countdown to the LPGA Tour Championship presented by Rolex winds down, players are racing to qualify for the Championship by being in top 120 on the LPGA Official Money List after the completion of the 2009 Mizuno Classic on Sunday, November 8.
As of Monday, November 2, South Korean Jiyai Shin is leading the money list with over $1.6 million earned so far this year. Following Shin on the money list are Japanese Ai Miyazato and American Cristie Kerr. In fourth place is Norwegian Suzann Pettersen, followed by South Korean Na Yeon Choi and Rolex Rankings number one Lorena Ochoa. Taiwan native Yani Tseng is secure in seventh place followed by South Korean In-Kyung Kim and Texan Angela Stanford. Rounding out the tenth spot is American Paula Creamer.
Other notable players who currently in the top 120 on the LPGA Official Money List are Americans Michelle Wie, who is 17th on the money list, and Morgan Pressel who is currently in 21st place. Texan Stacy Lewis is in 46th on the list while Sophie Gustafson, who won the last LPGA tournament held in the Houston area, is secure in 14th place.
It has been over 20 years since the LPGA has hosted a full-field event in the greater Houston area, and not only has the LPGA returned, they have returned with their season finale which could determine who takes home the top spot on the 2009 LPGA Official Money List and Player of the Year honors.
