Stellman selected as 2010 Nancy Lopez Golf Achievement Award recipient;
Honor given to LPGA T&CP member who exemplifies Lopez' characteristics on, off course
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., Nov. 8, 2010 – Lynn Stellman, a 34-year veteran of the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Teaching and Club Professionals (T&CP), is the recipient of the 2010 Nancy Lopez Golf Achievement Award. This award recognizes an LPGA professional who gives back to the game in the spirit of LPGA Hall of Fame member Nancy Lopez.
Stellman has held numerous leadership positions including: member of the LPGA T&CP Executive Committee; President of the LPGA T&CP Southeast Section; Treasurer of the LPGA T&CP Southeast Section; and tournament director of two LPGA T&CP Southeast Section Championships.
The Nancy Lopez Golf Achievement Award was created in 2007, and is given to an LPGA professional who emulates qualities valued by Lopez: Leadership; Passion; Giving; and Approachability. Lopez is a 48-time LPGA Tour winner and four-time Rolex Player of the Year. She was inducted into the LPGA Tour and World Golf Halls of Fame in 1987, and captained the victorious 2005 U.S. Solheim Cup Team.
“Winning the Nancy Lopez Golf Achievement Award is so very exciting,” said Stellman. “Anyone who has followed the LPGA knows that Nancy Lopez has always been the backbone of the LPGA. She is the player that all fans want to meet, the player that all fans want to root for, and the player that is always willing to give back to the game of golf. To have the name Nancy Lopez associated with me and my career is certainly an honor that I will always cherish.”
Stellman is currently director of golf at Martin County Golf & Country Club in Stuart, Fla., which is ranked as one of the busiest public golf facilities in the nation. She oversees the activities of a 900-member golfing “community,” managing both the day-to-day operations as well as planning and overseeing tournaments. In addition, she manages the golfing education for the facility, overseeing teaching and co-coordinating golfing instruction through private lessons, clinics and seminars.
In 2006, Stellman co-founded Ladies’ Links Fore Golf, LLC, with the vision of creating the nation’s largest and most comprehensive online golfing community for women amateurs. In early 2008 she spearheaded the launch of www.LL4G.com , in 2009 the Ladies Links Fore Golf magazine, and in 2010, the "The Ladies Links Fore Golf" radio show, creating a coast-to-coast golfing community where women can link up to learn, practice, compete and share in the many facets of golf. LL4G Fans enjoy tournaments, travel, fun days, golf schools and top-branded golf merchandise at affordable prices, as well as opportunities to play on some of the nations top courses.
“This is especially meaningful to me because I have gotten to know Nancy on a personal level and we have partnered to share our love of the game with others through golf clinics,” Stellmen added. "I know each of the previous winners Debbie O’Connell, Troy Beck and Patti Benson and it is a list I am humbled to join.”
Stellman has also been the recipient of numerous golf industry awards, including the LPGA Sarah Hunter Junior Achievement Award for service and commitment to the enhancement of junior golf and the 2009 LPGA T&CP Southeast Section Eagle Award.
