Spain’s Azahara Munoz, Beatriz Recari and Belen Mozo are motivated late this season by last week’s rally in the Ryder Cup by the European Team, which was led by two Spaniards, Captain Jose Maria Olazabal and team member Sergio Garcia. After all, the young Spanish LPGA players were born in 1987 and 1988 when the late Seve Ballesteros, the inspiration for the Ryder Cup victory, was at his swashbuckling peak competitively.

All three players tweeted their support for the European team during after the Sunday Singles rally.

“Still can’t believe it!!!! Super happy for Ollie, what an amazing guy. So humble and special!!!! And Seve, this was for u!!!,” Munoz tweeted (‏@AzaharaGOLF).

As the season begins its last leg of six tournaments at next week’s Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia tournament, each player is looking toward more success and eyeballing the August 2013 Solheim Cup in Colorado. They also are aiming to become the first Spanish golfer to win a major championship on the LPGA. Each player also owns a hot hand from the last LPGA event, the Navistar LPGA Classic in Alabama.

Here’s a look at the trio’s recent success:

Azahara Munoz – Munoz, 24, won her first LPGA title earlier this year at the Sybase Match Play Championship and is coming off a T11 at the Navistar with a final-round 65 that included a back-nine 30. She is fifth on the LPGA in Greens in Regulation at 74 percent. She plans on purchasing a U.S. home in January.

Beatriz Recari – Recari, 25, leads the LPGA in official rounds played at 77 and is tied with numerous others – including Munoz – for most events played (21). She hasn’t missed a cut this year and shot 66-67 on the weekend at Navistar to finish T6, her best finish of 2012. Her strong suit is Driving Accuracy where she ranks seventh at 80 percent.

Belen Mozo – Mozo, 24, is headed toward her best LPGA season in her sophomore year playing the LPGA. She finished T21 at the Navistar thanks to a final-round 68. The Southern Cal graduate led the Trojans to the 2008 NCAA women’s team title, the same year that Munoz was the medalist while playing for Arizona State.
