Chella Choi scribbled something in Korean on the back of her left hand before Saturday’s second round at theWegmans LPGA Championship, but she wouldn’t reveal what it was after she shot 1-over-par 73 to remain near the top of the leaderboard at 4-under overall.

C. Choi takes Wegmans LPGA Championship lead

A wet and not-so-wild Wegmans LPGA Championship finally got started Friday with a first round that Chella Choi owned in the afternoon and Morgan Pressel owned in the morning.

Choi shot a 5-under-par 67 to take sole possession of the lead.

Playing more than half her round in a steady afternoon rain, Choi, 22, avoided Locust Hill’s gnarly rough off the tee in positioning herself early for her first LPGA title. She hit all 14 fairways. Read More>>

Chella Choi leads record-setting Mobile Bay LPGA Classic into final round

Chella Choi will take a one-shot lead into Sunday's final round of the Mobile Bay LPGA Classic at Magnolia Grove. But Jessica Korda, who is tied for second with Anna Nordqvist, said any player within 12 shots of the lead could win the tournament.

That's because for the second straight day, the tournament record was broken. Sydnee Michaels' 10-under-par 62 lasted a day before Nordqvist turned in an 11-under 61 in the third round today. Before this year, the tournament record had been 8-under, accomplished three times. Read More>>

Chella Choi Ready to Make her Move

Chella Choi has spent most of her time on the LPGA Tour flying under the radar.

The 22-year old has made steady progress since joining the tour in 2009. After recording four top-20 finishes in 2011 Choi enjoyed a breakout season last year, placing in the top 10 seven times, including three times in the top five. She finished the 2012 season ranked 20th on the money list

Last June at the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic in Waterloo, Ontario, Choi contended for what would have been her first LPGA victory and was part of a four-way sudden-death playoff that was eventually won by Brittany Lang. CHELLA CHOI LEADS, SEEKS FIRST VICTORY

Most of the LPGA players spent Thursday watching movies, shopping or napping since play was rained out. And in truth, Friday afternoon also was more suited to those activities than playing golf, as the precipitation began again and stuck around.
