Catching up with new mum Karine Icher at the Evian Masters

Frenchwoman Karine Icher discusses how her game has been affected by the arrival of her first daughter and her thoughts on playing at home in the Evian Masters in France.

MODERATOR: We'd like to welcome Karine Icher into the interview room. Welcome home.

KARINE ICHER: Thank you.

MODERATOR: It's wonderful always to be back in France. It's been a great start to the season for you. You've been applying some really great golf lately. Take me through first off what it's like to be back home in France and come back to this event, and overall how you feel you've been playing as of late.

KARINE ICHER: It's very exciting to be back in France obviously. It's been two years, so I'm very happy to be here to see my friends, family, everybody. It's a beautiful course. There are little changes; really good greens. I think I played maybe 10 Evian Masters, and it's really the first year where the greens are so good. So, so far, it's a good week. Hope it's going to stay like that. More>>

Icher the runaway leader

Karine Icher from France has extended her three shot first round lead to six shots, firing another blistering round of golf in the second round of the £325,000 Compaq Open at Österåkers GC.

The Evian Tour rookie leads on 13 under par, returning a faultless six under 67 to lead Spain's Raquel Carriedo, who also had a 67.

New Zealander Lynnette Brooky carded a 73 to add to her first round 72 and is the only other player under par on a course that the majority of the field are struggling to come to terms with.

Four players are tied on level par, Solheim Cup captain Dale Reid, Denmark's Iben Tinning and Sweden's Sara Eklund and promising amateur Mikaela Parmlid.

Icher, who has four top ten finishes this season, including finishing third in the French Open, took advantage of the more benign conditions today to increase the gap at the top. More>>

Pornanong, Icher tied for 1st at Brazil Cup

Thailand's Pornanong Phatlum and France's Karine Icher each shot 7-under 66s on Saturday to share the first-round lead in the LPGA Tour's 36-hole JSBC Brazil Cup exhibition event.

American Katie Futcher was a shot behind at Itanhanga Golf Club, and Norway's Suzann Pettersen matched Brittany Lang and Candie Kung at 68. Paula Creamer and Christina Kim shot 69.

Phatlum and Icher each had eight birdies and a bogey.

"My approach shots and putting were very good today," Phatlum said. "I think I just have to play and focus on my game," Pornanong said. "I just need to have fun tomorrow." More>>
