Palm Beach Gardens, FL - The Executive Women's Golf Association (EWGA), the community for women which connects current and aspiring business and professional women to learn, play, and enjoy the game of golf, will honor LPGA and World Golf Hall of Fame member Carol Mann with the EWGA Leadership Award during its Empower '14 Conference in San Antonio, Texas, April 6-8, 2014.
The EWGA Leadership Award, the highest award given to an individual outside of the Association, recognizes individuals who have made an impact on opening doors and growing the game of golf for women.
Mann, a Houston resident, has demonstrated the highest level of integrity, sportsmanship, respect and honor for the game of golf and its traditions throughout her entire career. With two major championships and 38 LPGA tour event wins, Mann will join a stellar list of previous Leadership Award honorees who have made significant contributions to women's golf.
Following a successful 20-year playing career on the LPGA Tour, Mann remained active in the golf industry as a television analyst for ABC, ESPN and NBC covering both men's and women's golf, as well as starting her own corporate golf company, Carol Mann, Inc., while at the same time being a key figure in the formation of the modern LPGA. Mann, who continues to be active with golf instruction and playing opportunities for girls and women, will receive her award at the EWGA Celebration Dinner on Tuesday, April 8.
Previous Leadership Award honorees have included Alice Dye, Peggy Kirk Bell, Kathy Whitworth, Patty Berg, Renee Powell, Shirley Spork, Marlene Haggee, Judy Bell, Cindy Davis, Annika Sorenstam, Linda Vollstedt, Pia Nilsson and Lynn Marriott, Golf For Women Magazine, Judy Rankin, Lorena Ochoa and Rosie Jones.
The EWGA's Empower '14 Conference takes place at the La Cantera Resort and Spa and features learning skills both on and off the course, including leadership development, maximizing social media trends, on course game strategies and business networking experiences. It's a time for celebration and award recognition, making new friends, participating in golf clinics and club demos along with fundraising activities to support the EWGA Foundation and of course, playing golf.
