DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., December 7, 2015—Beginning December 7th, LPGA*USGA Girls Golf (Girls Golf) and the ANNIKA Foundation invite girls ages 6-12 who reside in Florida to write an open letter about their love of golf and why other girls should learn to play.
The top 40 letters will be handpicked by Annika and her selection committee and invited to the inaugural “Share My Passion” LPGA*USGA Girls Golf clinic. It will take place January 23, 2016 at Annika’s world-renowned ANNIKA Academy in Reunion, Fla. Winners will spend the day receiving instruction from Annika and her elite Academy team.
A World Golf Hall of Famer, Annika won more than 90 tournaments during her career, including 10 major championships. After stepping away from professional golf in 2008, she turned her attention to building her ANNIKA-branded businesses – which include the ANNIKA Foundation, ANNIKA Academy and other initiatives – and raising her young family. Annika hopes by encouraging junior golfers to share their passion for golf that other girls will be motivated to pursue the sport as well.
"I am excited for the ANNIKA Foundation to partner with LPGA*USGA Girls Golf on the ‘Share My Passion’ Girls Golf Clinic,” said Annika. “This initiative aligns very nicely with our Foundation Mission and is funded by our longtime friends, Dan and Sallie Dutton, to encourage young girls to get into golf”
Winning letters will be featured on the LPGA*USGA Girls Golf Blog (http://blog.girlsgolf.org), further promoting Girls Golf’s mission of empowering and inspiring girls through golf.
“We are looking forward to working together with Annika to provide this terrific opportunity for our Girls Golf members,” said Director of the LPGA Foundation, Kiernan Schindler. “She is such a remarkable role model both on and off the course and will inspire the girls to follow their passion!”
