When the final major championship of the season begins on Thursday, a certain threesome will be paired together, looking at the competition this week in France at The Evian Championship … but also way beyond.

Inbee Park, Lydia Ko and Stacy Lewis are ranked 1-2-3, respectively, in the LPGA’s most noteworthy categories: 1) Race to the CME Globe, 2) Rolex Women’s World Rankings, 3) Earnings and 4) Scoring Average. They tee off No. 10 at 8:40 a.m. in France (2:40 a.m. EDT) on Thursday and 1:20 p.m. in France (7:20 a.m. EDT) on Friday.

Park has been the dominant player this season, with four victories, including two major titles (KPMG Women’s PGA Championship and Ricoh Women’s British Open). But she holds just a 458-point lead over Ko – a three-time winner – in the Race to the CME Globe competition. Even though Lewis has not won this season, she has finished eighth or better on 11 occasions and is 1,022 points behind Park.

Normally, the winner of a LPGA event receives 500 Race to the CME Globe points for a victory. But the major championships offer 25 percent more, doling out 625 points for the win. Therefore, Ko could overtake Park and Lewis could leap into the one-week-change conversation.

The Race to the CME Globe is a season-long points competition in which LPGA Members accumulate points in every Official LPGA Tournament. At the end of the season, the winning player will be named the “Race to the CME Globe Champion.” The competition began at the Coates Golf Championship, continues through the Lorena Ochoa Invitational Presented by Banamex in Mexico and concludes with a points reset for the CME Group Tour Championship in Naples, Florida the week before Thanksgiving.
