Stacy Lewis
Still looking for her first win of 2015, the Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic is Stacy Lewis’s week to get it done. A runner-up last week after losing in a playoff to Lydia Ko at the Canadian Pacific Women’s Open, Lewis will feel right at home in Alabama. Lewis has consistently played well on this track, not only winning in 2012 but also finishing runner-up in 2014. Lewis is my pick to win it this week.
Lexi Thompson
This event holds a special place in Lexi Thompson’s heart as the site of her first win on the LPGA Tour. Thompson captured the 2011 event to become the youngest winner on Tour at the time at 16 years, 7 months and 8 days. She nearly defended her title the following year, finishing runner-up to Stacy Lewis in 2012. She also teed it up in this event in 2009 as an amateur, finishing T-27. She played again in 2010 where she notched a T-16 finish.
Brooke Henderson
The new rookie on the LPGA Tour is riding a good wave of late, coming off her first victory at the Cambia Portland Classic and a T-23 finish at home in Canada at the CP Women’s Open. Henderson will make her first start this week in Prattville, Alabama.
M.J. Hur
Defending champion M.J. Hur is a perfect fit for the Senator Course. She not only won last year but also finished tied for third in 2012. Hur looks to continue the momentum she found last week in Canada where she finished T-12 last week, her second best finish of the 2015 season.
Angela Stanford
The Senator Course’s links style set up fits Angela Stanford’s game. She has two top-3 finishes in her past three starts at the Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic. She’ll be looking for her third top-10 finish of 2015 this week in Prattville.
Tiffany Joh
Tiffany Joh came close to winning in Prattville in 2011, finishing runner up to Lexi Thompson in her first win on Tour. The event was not held in 2013. Joh notched a T-39 finish in 2014. She has three top-21 finishes so far in 2015.
Sadena Parks
Rookie Sadena Parks has made the cut in her last three events, carding rounds of 68, 68, 67 in each event. Parks will make her first start in Prattville this week and look to add a few more 60’s to her scorecard for the week.
Backup Team
Winners already this season on Tour, Brittany Lincicome and Chella Choi make my backup team for this week’s event. Both have top-20 finishes in this event, including a T-11 for Choi on the Senator Course last season. Lincicome has three top-10 finishes in 2015 in addition to her victory at the ANA Inspiration.
