I attended 2015 U.S. Women's Open in Lancaster, PA (about two hours from home). I enjoyed the event, it was a well-organized event.
I saw something amazing when I was there during Michelle Wie's practice round as she was approaching #3 tee. I was standing beside a young girl and her mother when Michelle walked by within a few feet and the girl simply asked is she could have a picture with her.
With Michelle’s long stride, she was a good two or three steps past us. I imagine many would just keep going (players cannot possibly stop for everyone) but, Michelle spun around and came back to the girl and they did the Selfie thing.
I looked at the young girl after Michelle went on and she was about ready to explode….actually shaking with excitement and when she looked at me she had the biggest smile I have ever seen and eyes completely full of tears.
That girl will always remember that kind gesture Michelle Wie made that day. And, I think what I saw will stick with me too.
I think the LPGA organization and players are fantastic.
