Brooke Henderson is nine holes closer to winning her first event on the LPGA Tour.
The 17-year-old holds an eight-stroke lead at the turn of the final round of the Cambia Portland Classic. Henderson is currently at 21-under par for the championship, which would break the 72-hole tournament scoring record previously held by 2013 champion Suzann Pettersen at 20-under par. Henderson is 3-under on her day.
The Canadian held a five-stroke lead entering the final round, ahead of Morgan Pressel who is she is grouped with in the final round along with Sandra Gal. Each member of this trio is looking for their first win of the season.
Henderson is a member of the Epson Tour who Monday qualified for this week’s event, earning her spot in the field with a 68. The last player to Monday qualify and win on the LPGA Tour was Laurel Kean at the 2000 Rail Classic.
